Who will you be working with?

You will be working closely with the director of HR for Canada to support employees and managers in a variety of human resources related activities across Canada and multiple business units within Wabtec.

How will you make a difference?

Under the direction of the Director of Human Resources, the Human Resources Specialist is responsible for coordinating/administrating several HR functional areas including benefits management, recruitment, onboarding & EHS training, employee engagement and file management. The coordinator will provide day-to-day support to managers and employees and assist the HR director with various projects, reporting, communications and harmonization of policies and procedures.

What do we want to know about you?

  • Certificate in human resources with a minimum of 3 years’ years of professional work experience in the human resources function with responsibilities in HR coordination, recruiting, employee relations, health and safety, and benefits.

  • Strong knowledge of Workday or other HRIS and benefits systems and processes.

  • Knowledge of employment standards legislation for various provinces.

  • Exposure to payroll practices.

  • Full understanding of HR functions and best practices.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Works well under pressure and meets tight deadlines.

  • Highly computer literate with capability in email, MS Office and related business and communication tools.

  • Fantastic organizational and time management skills.

What will your typical day look like?

  • Organize, maintain and update employee HRIS information as needed.

  • Track benefit plans, including health care, retirement, Workers Comp, etc.

  • Make sure all health and safety regulations are followed, assign EHS training and lead the EHS committee.

  • Under the leadership of the HR director, be a vital source of human resources information, answering any questions employees may have.

  • Support any other special projects the HR director needs assistance with.

  • Manage the recruitment process of hourly and intern roles in Canada.

  • Handle onboarding of new hires including benefits enrolments and responding to employee questions regarding the process.

  • Assist employees and manager with the disability process.

  • Work closely with HR Ops and payroll for employee transactions and questions.

  • Works closely with HR director to create and communicate policies and procedures.

  • Actively works with Canada HR Team on policy, benefits and documents harmonization.

  • Produce and submit reports related to payroll and human resources.

  • Assist with payroll related transactions and ad-hoc HR projects.

You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.
