WHAT YOU WILL DO:

As an Inspector at PennEngineering - Winston-Salem, you will play a vital role in ensuring that our precision-engineered fastening solutions meet the highest quality standards. Your work is crucial in maintaining our reputation for excellence and customer satisfaction. You will be responsible for inspecting parts, verifying tolerances, and using various testing methods to confirm that products meet performance requirements. Your keen attention to detail and commitment to quality will be instrumental in our continued success.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • You will inspect completed parts to verify they meet PennEngineering's quality standards and customer specifications.

  • You will use a variety of precision measurement tools to assess part dimensions and tolerances, including:

  • Go/No-Go Gauges

  • Thread Gauges

  • Micrometers & Depth Micrometers

  • Optical Comparators

  • Dial Indicators

  • Tri-Roll Comparators

  • Roller & Vibratory Track Sorting Machines

  • Magnets

  • Blueprints & Tolerance Charts

  • If a part does not meet specifications, you will document the issue and follow established non-conforming product work instructions.

Material Handling & Inspection

  • You will lift and transport buckets of rejected parts (weighing 10-15 lbs.) from the designated inspection required area to the inspection table for further evaluation.

  • You will inspect parts using visual and measurement inspections to identify and remove defects per Inspection Control Plan (ICP).

  • Once inspection is complete, you will move the approved material in JDE and physically to the next Department using a hand cart and ensure that all required paperwork is completed accurately.

Documentation & Reporting

  • You will maintain accurate records of all inspections, including lot identity, part disposition, and time spent inspection.

  • You will complete time, production, and quality reports clearly and legibly to ensure accuracy and traceability.

  • If you detect a discrepancy in blueprint specifications or tolerances, you will report it immediately to the Quality Supervisor to prevent production errors.

Collaboration & Problem-Solving

  • You will work closely with operators, other inspectors, and the Manufacturing Supervisor to communicate quality concerns and resolve any issues.

  • You will proactively maintain and calibrate your micrometers and gauges, ensuring they are properly working and requesting replacements as needed.

  • You will participate in discussions with the Quality Supervisor to improve inspection processes and uphold product quality.

  • Other duties as directed by Supervisor.

Safety & Compliance

  • You will follow all PennEngineering safety protocols to maintain a safe work environment.

  • You will ensure your workspace is clean, organized, and free of hazards that could impact efficiency or safety.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS THAT WILL HELP YOU BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE :

Required:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to detect even minor defects.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.

  • Proficiency in using precision measurement tools.

  • Physical ability to stand for the entire shift and lift to 40 lbs. multiple times per shift.

Preferred:

  • At least 2 years of experience in quality inspection within a manufacturing environment.

  • Technical training in quality control, manufacturing, or a related field is a plus.

  • Experience operating automated sorting equipment.

  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 or other quality management systems.
