The Engineering Manager is responsible for managing a team of engineers to ensure sustainment of products, with a goal of exceeding customer expectations around safety, quality, and delivery.

The ideal candidate will have excellent leadership skills, project management skills, the ability to problem-solve, a high-sense of urgency, and the aptitude to work effectively in a team-environment

This position is part of Videojet’s R&D Team located in Wood Dale, IL, and will be hybrid, with a minimum of 3 days per week on-site.

In this role, you will:

  • Manage engineering resources to design and implement product design changes

  • Manage and prioritize project pipeline

  • Ensure timely and effective delivery of solutions into production

  • Interact with cross-functional resources, such as manufacturing, procurement, tech support, and as well as outside suppliers

  • Perform administrative managerial duties for up to 8 direct reports

  • Mentor associates and foster a learning and growth environment

  • Utilize Veralto Enterprise Systems tools for Project management, such as Visual Project Management, Daily Management, and Speed Design Review

Are you qualified?

  • A Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline, preferably Mechanical or Electrical. Master’s degree is a plus.

  • 5+ years engineering experience in product development or sustaining engineering.

  • 3+ years of experience as a managing a technical team with direct and indirect reports; demonstrated leadership skills

  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a cross-functional environment, with a track record of on-time delivery. Demonstrated skills with project management tools and methodologies, product development lifecycle, and problem solving.

  • Proven ability to communicate project information (plans, results, conclusions) both verbally and visually to key stakeholders and management. Experience with Daily Management and Visual Management is highly preferred

  • The ideal candidate will have demonstrated thorough engineering knowledge and experience, for example:

  • Small-to-medium electromechanical industrial equipment. Equipment with such components as pumps, filters, fans, motors, and valves is highly desired.

  • Mechanical machine design using plastics and metals. Injection molding of plastics and sheet metal fabrication a plus.

  • Engineering drawing/modelling (Solidworks), including tolerancing with G D & T, plus Tolerance Stack-up.

  • Experience with processes such as product change control, Root Cause Analysis, NPD, SOPs.

  • International travel up to 5% of the time could be required
