Job Summary

This position provides customer service to golfers at District golf courses while providing leadership to seasonal golf staff and administrative support to the Golf Services team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Operate the golf handicap service, point-of-sale, phone, and registration systems.
• Perform customer check-in, coordinate flow of golf play, and conduct tee-time registration.
• Assist in the purchasing, pricing, and display of pro shop merchandise.
• Provide information to the public regarding the District golf courses, District and facility rules and regulations, safety guidelines, and Golf Services operations.
• Sell merchandise, including golf equipment, snacks, and alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Observe customer traffic patterns and anticipate upcoming needs.
• Assist in the opening and closing of the pro shop and clubhouse.
• Assist in planning, staging, scoring, and execution of leagues, golf events and instructional programming.
• Assist in recording inventories, perform data entry, and prepare reports.
• Maintain a clean retail environment at the pro shop and clubhouse.
• Assist supervisor with the selection of staff, schedule, train, provide guidance and communicate day-to-day work activities, department expectations, and work rules. Relay and provide input regarding work performance, training needs and growth opportunities while promoting morale.
• Foster a working environment that promotes safe work habits; Become familiar with and observe all applicable safety rules, policies, and work procedures; Follow all safety rules that pertain to the duties performed and support all aspects of the District\'s safety and risk management program; Keep work area clean, orderly, and free of hazards; Immediately report all unsafe conditions and incidents.
• Maintain a supportive working environment and demonstrate a desire to exceed the expectations of internal and external customers.
• Perform other duties as required.

Requirements:

• 18 years of age or older at time of hire.
• 1 year of experience in a customer service position in a retail environment.
• Must have and maintain CPR, AED, and First Aid certification or obtain upon hire (training provided).
• Must have and maintain Illinois Mandated Reporter certification or obtain upon hire (training provided).
• Must have and maintain Beverage Alcohol Sellers and Servers Education and Training (BASSET) or obtain within 30 days of hire.
• Basic knowledge of golf facility operations.
• Advanced knowledge of the game of golf.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Schedule:Variable schedule, up to 40 hours per week during main golf season (April - October).Scheduled days may include weekends and holidays. Up to 10 hours per week in the off season.

Pay:\$16 - \$20/hour

Preferred Candidate:Should be interested in a career in the golf business, and available to work 35 to 40 hours per week during the golf season.

Work Environment:Indoors and outdoors in all types of weather conditions in a golf facility setting.

Location:Green Meadows in Westmont or Maple Meadows in Wood Dale.
