Occupational Health and Safety Technician The Occupational Health & Safety Technician acts as a technical resource in the organization with the intent to assist in developing or refining standardized processes to ensure safety and health compliance to Federal, State and Local regulations as well as Company Policies and Procedures. Functions and Responsibilities Program Administration: Includes regulatory compliance, interpretation of regulatory applicability, interaction with local, state, and federal regulators - including acting as a resource during negotiation/discussion of remedial activities. Refine and/or implement OH&S training programs and training assessments to ensure required training is identified and conducted. This would include Plant Safety Training in new hire orientation, PPE use, forklift and crane operation and general machine safety. Conduct regular audits of OH&S processes and necessary follow up to ensure compliance and advise plant leadership and staff of findings. Injury Reporting & Investigation: Analyze injury/illness experience, identify/track injury correlation, determine root causes, implement corrective action and communicate this information to key stakeholders. Regular participation in Safety Committee meetings. Assist with new equipment programs at the concept stage to ensure that OH&S design specifications and regulations are included. Ensure ergonomic processes implemented/ integrated in an appropriate manner. Administer routine safety reports including data acquisition, documentation, record keeping, monitoring, review, and approval. Coordinate communication of regulatory inspection activity with company stakeholders. Qualifications * A strong working knowledge of EHS regulations * Experience in a manufacturing environment a plus * Demonstrated ability to look at processes and equipment to suggest areas for improvement. * Proficient in Excel, Microsoft Word and PowerPoint. * Must be able to work independently and have good problem-solving skills. Physical Requirements * Performs physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and frequent movement of the whole body, such as climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds, balancing and handling of material.
