General Statement of Duties: The Director for the Office of Grants and
Sponsored Research is responsible for providing leadership and direction
for the development and administration of externally funded grants and
related research functions for faculty and staff. Under the direction of
the Vice President for University Advancement, the Director will play an
active and engaged role in the cultivation of grant funds to support
current and future University initiatives, aligning the office\'s work
with the University\'s strategic plan and mission. The Director will be
responsible for all facets of the preparation, production and management
of grant proposals to foundations, government agencies and corporations
including prospect research, cultivation, proposal development,
stewardship, institutional compliance, database management and event
planning. They will coordinate with faculty and administrators in the
preparation and management of grant projects for institutional,
departmental, multidisciplinary and individual-based research. Required
Qualifications: Masters\' degree in Education, Business Administration,
Public Administration or related field. Seven to nine years of
successful experience in the administration of multiple concurrent
grants including federal, state and private funds. Five plus years of
supervisory experience in the area of grants management including budget
development and fund-use oversight. Demonstrated ability to
simultaneously manage multiple projects and initiatives. Current
knowledge of grant administration, pre-award and post-award, including
federal, state and private funding requirements. Ability to supervise,
develop and coach office staff. Solid understanding of the role of
grants in higher education. Ability to work effectively with a diverse
group of constituents, both internal and external; ability to develop
and maintain professional relationships. Analytical and research skills
utilized in determining appropriate grant opportunities. Excellent
communication skills, in both oral and written format. Superb
organizational skills. Proficiency in computer programs relevant to the
work, including but not limited to: Microsoft Office Suite, and programs
related to grant development and submission, internet-based and
otherwise. Ability to work occasional nights and weekends for the
purpose of meeting deadlines and cultivating grant opportunities.
Preferred Qualifications: Advanced study beyond the Masters level in
Education, Administration or related field. Ten or more years of
successful experience in the administration of multiple concurrent
grants including federal, state and private funds. Evidence of success
in securing grants from federal agencies (e.g., NSF, NEA, ED, etc.) in
support of institutional initiatives and/or faculty research. Evidence
of success in securing grants from private or corporate foundations in
support of higher education or relevant field. Advanced training and/or
certification in research development or sponsored-research
