ASM Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an immediate opening for a Full-Time Operations Manager at the DCU Center in Worcester, Massachusetts 01608.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Works independently with little to no supervision
Ensures accurate execution of work orders for all event facility set ups and changeovers
Works with the Director of Operations to recommend and develop operating procedures that conform to corporate standards, customized to the specific needs of the facility and consistent with the goals and objectives of the clients and the facility
Manages subordinate supervisors who oversee employee functions in the operations department including but not limited to interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems
Recommends and/or authorizes the requisition of equipment and supplies within the budget guidelines
Investigates, analyzes and resolves operational problems and complaints including recommendations for new methods and/or policies
Conducts periodic staff meetings to discuss procedures, problems and policy changes
Engages with the DCU Center management team in coordination of decision making that is generally governed by procedure and guided by policy
Maintain an effective working relationship with vendors, clients, exhibitors, patrons and others encountered in the course of employment
Works effectively with other facility departments to ensure their needs/requirements from the Operations Department are completed in a timely manner
Organizes and prioritizes the Operations Department workflow to meet deadlines
Ensures the entire operations team exhibits positive customer service and maintains a professional leadership demeanor in all actions
Ensures all laws, codes, ordinances, policies, procedures, risk management, safety precautions, rules/regulations and emergency procedures are followed
Serves as Operations Designee to the ASM Safety Program to train all employees on fire/life safety and emergency procedures
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Directly supervises all employees in the Operations Changeover and Housekeeping Departments. Manager carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with ASM Global's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include recruiting, interviewing, hiring and training employees, planning, assigning, directing work, appraising performance, rewarding, disciplining employees in conjunction with Human Resources.

This position will require a considerable amount of standing for long hours, walking, climbing, stooping, lifting (up to 50 lbs) and carrying. EDUCATION AND /OR EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years facility operations experience in a similar environment
Supervisory experience required
Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and CAD programs
Workday payroll experience a plus
Must be licensed and insured to operate a motor vehicle within the United States; some travel required
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Educated on laws, codes, ordinances, policies, procedures, risk management, fire/safety precautions, rules/regulations and emergency procedures
Ability to respond to emergencies and utilize first aid and first response procedures to fire or life safety incident
Knowledgeable in operational procedures, facility capabilities, industry terminology, event-related services and technical requirements for the types of events anticipated at the facility
Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, heating and air conditioning
Working knowledge and operation of various on-site equipment – Zamboni, forklifts, boom lifts, scrubber, vacuums, buffers and other light power-driven equipment
Possess skills and experience in labor relations and supervising/training personnel
Possess skills and experience in purchasing procedures
Ability to read and comprehend blueprints, drawings and other related materials
Ability to operate portable radio and standard office equipment including copier and fax machines
Ability to follow and provide oral and written instructions and communicate effectively
Ability to work effectively under pressure and/or stringent schedule occasionally in adverse conditions while producing accurate results
Ability to remain flexible and adjust to situations as they occur
Excellent customer service skills
Ability to work with limited supervision and as a team member
Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends and holidays, in addition to normal business hours
