SUMMARY STATEMENT OF WORK PERFORMED: Performs maintenance work order assignments in compliance with established safety regulations and SOIs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS of the job follow. Management may assign other duties and responsibilities as necessary.

  • Perform routine building maintenance duties, including painting, minor electrical repairs, plumbing, carpentry, and heating and ventilation systems maintenance.

  • Clean interior of the building, as well as machinery and equipment, and exterior of the building

  • Complete administrative duties, such as filling out forms and reporting maintenance statuses to supervisor.

  • Comply with all safety and health regulations.

  • Keep inventory of maintenance and cleaning supplies and equipment, and report needs to supervisor.

  • Respond to emergency calls for maintenance and repairs.

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot issues.

  • Work with and maintain relationships with contracted vendors.

  • Assist on special projects.

  • Participates in on-going training for preventive maintenance assignments.

  • Participates in on-going training/education to advance toward M-1 Maintenance status.

MACHINERY, TOOLS & EQUIPMENT USED:

  • Hand tools (wrenches, saws, hammers, drills, etc.)

  • Vertical and horizontal bandsaws

  • Pipe threader (hand and electric)

  • Welder

  • Torch

  • Electric grinder

  • Portable band saw

  • Rotary drills

  • Magnetic drill

  • Reciprocating saw

  • Pneumatic grinder, saw, impact gun and ratchet

  • Multimeter electrical

  • Radial drill press

  • Gas and electric drain cleaner

  • Ladder

  • Powered industrial trucks and lifts

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Two years vocational training preferred, but not required.

  • Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical systems (including relevant equipment and tools) is a plus

SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems

  • Ability to work in a team and follow instructions from supervisors

  • Ability to work without close supervision

  • Ability to solve maintenance related problems

  • Self-motivated, self-starter

  • Overtime; willing to work any shift, including weekends and outside of normal work hours

  • Rotational call-in schedule for holidays and weekends

  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and other manuals and documents

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is required to

  • Occasionally sit; bend; stoop; climb stairs and ladder; and lift and carry up to 50 lbs. (up to 2 hours/8-hour day)

  • Frequently use hands and fingers to handle; reach with hands and arms; walk; stand; talk and hear (up to 6-hours/8 hours day)

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Safety glasses, safety shoes and hearing protection are required.

  • The ambient temperature can exceed 100 degrees in the summer months.

  • Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions year-round

  • Hard hat and safety harness required when operating manlift or working on ladder above 6 ft. from ground

  • Hard hat required if working on floor within 10 ft. of manlift or ladder being used for overhead work

At a minimum, this employee must be actively enrolled in classes or willing to enroll in classes for Industrial Maintenance Certification at a Community College. Employee should apply for Wabtec Tuition Reimbursement Program and attend classes on their own time. Classes counting towards certification must be taken each semester unless prior approval is given by General Manager and Human Resources Manager. Failure to do so can result in disqualification from Job.
