TITLE: Club Tutor Teachers Assistant

REPORTS TO:Club Tutor Teacher

CLASSIFIED: Non-Exempt

MISSION:To inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens.

POSITION SUMMARY: As the Club Tutor Teacher's Assistant, your primary responsibility is to help the Club Tutor Teacher and provide individualized support to students. This involves aiding students in comprehending new concepts and finishing their assignments. Your main objective is to assist students in attaining their academic objectives by collaborating with them and enhancing their performance. Moreover, you are accountable for supervising program areas and youth participants assigned to your site. All Boys and Girls Club workers need to uphold the organization's mission.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Assist in enhancing the education, development, and progress of students.
  • Maintain a growth mindset toward student learning and teaching practice.
  • Encourage problem-solving by having a curious mind and possessing critical thinking abilities.
  • Assist youth with homework or special projects and enrichment activities.
  • Assist youth having behavioral challenges and ensure the following of success plans.
  • Implement the 5-Key Elements for Positive Youth Development.
  • Exhibit the Club Values of Excellence, Impact Driven, Teamwork, and Good Character.
  • Ensure the implementation of the program activities are according to the Clubs policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for the safety and security of the youth in the facility.
  • Communicate to your supervisor any daily updates or concerns at the end of each shift.
  • Accompany bus driver for transportation or transport via a Club van after the program each night to ensure youth get to a safe place according to their plan.
  • Attend 100% of monthly all-staff meetings, bi-weekly one-on-one meetings with your supervisor, and bi-weekly team meetings.
  • Assist your supervisor in creating and accomplishing trimester performance plan goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Previous work with elementary-aged children
  • Commitment to working five days a week
  • Commitment to making your class schedule for the upcoming semester to meet the scheduling needs of the Boys and Girls Club (if applicable)
  • Commitment to working within the operating hours of the Tutor Program (listed below)
    • 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM; Monday - Friday (Yankton Program)
  • Commitment to working within the summer operating hours of the Tutor Program (listed below)
    • 7:30 AM - 12:00 PM; Monday - Friday (Yankton Program)
  • Must understand, implement, and demonstrate behavior management principles and other youth treatment modalities, per the Club training and Values of Fun, Supportive Relationships, Recognition, Opportunities and Expectations, and Safety.
  • Must be able to provide leadership, on-the-spot and reflective feedback, and supervision to assigned employees to ensure they, too, understand and demonstrate principles of behavior management and other youth treatment modalities, per the Club training and Values of Fun, Supportive Relationships, Recognition, Opportunities and Expectations, and Safety.
  • Commitment to working non-school days and snow days at The Boys and Girls Club within the operating hours of the Club (listed below)
    • 7:30 AM - 6:00 PM (Yankton Program)
  • Commitment to working at The Boys and Girls Club during the summer months within the operating hours of the Club (listed below)
    • 7:30 AM - 6:00 PM (Yankton Program)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be of the mental and physical capacity to observe, interact, and communicate with youth, staff, volunteers, educators (at your assigned tutor site), etc., at the Club to ensure the safety of the s ace and others, provide guidance and reflection per the Club priority outcomes and goals.
  • Ability to stand/sit for long periods throughout a shift.
  • Ability to operate various types of general office equipment including PC, telephone, copier, etc.
