Nevada Copper (TSX:NCU) is a copper producer and owner of the Pumpkin Hollow copper project. Located in Nevada, USA, Pumpkin Hollow has substantial reserves and resources including copper, gold and silver. Its two fully permitted projects include the high-grade underground mine and processing facility, which is now in the production stage, and a large-scale open pit project, which is advancing towards feasibility status.

Job Description

The Systems Administrator is responsible for diagnosing, maintaining and repairing hardware and software components to ensure the smooth operations of IT systems. The Systems Administrator is responsible for maintaining and monitoring the network systems and IP based devices on the Nevada Copper network to ensure reliability, integrity and availability for the operation.

Accountability:

The Systems Administrator reports directly to the Head of IT, in all aspects of the NV Copper network environment and is accountable for all aspects of second level support within that environment.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Install and configure hardware and software components to ensure usability

  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues

  • Repairing or replacing damaged hardware

  • Upgrading software packages including firmware

  • Installing and maintaining security software

  • Performing tests and evaluations of new software and hardware

  • Providing support to IT Technician for second level troubleshooting

  • Establishing a good relationship with all departments and colleagues

  • Conducting daily checks and monitoring of systems. (i.e. health, backups, error logs)

  • Managing technical documentation

  • Assisting Head of IT in end user training and security awareness

  • Consult with management, staff, and vendors to diagnose and solve user problems regarding hardware, networks, telecommunications, and related matters

    Health & Safety:

  • Ensure that all safety procedures and regulatory guidelines are followed

  • Support the site safety culture through safe work practices

  • Participate in health and safety meetings and risk reviews as required

    Knowledge/Education:

    The Systems Administrator should be proficient with the following attributes:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Min of 5+ years experience in computer networks and systems maintenance

  • Mining network experience advantageous

  • Min of 3+ years experience in Microsoft Operating System Support

  • Microsoft Dynamics experience advantageous

  • CCNA, CCNP certifications advantageous

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills

  • Good Interpersonal Skills

  • Attention to Detail

  • Good problem-solving skills

    The Systems Administrator must demonstrate the following skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as software and hardware manuals, and system configuration requirements

    Physical and Mental Demands and Requirements

    The Systems Administrator will work in an office and industrial environment and must be able to:

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Climb stairwells and be capable of working on elevated platforms

  • Walk on uneven ground

  • Lift and potentially carry up to 25 lbs.

  • Periodically work in adverse weather conditions

  • Periodically work in an underground environment

  • Sit for extended periods of time

    Work Schedule and Personal Protective Equipment

    The incumbent is expected to work a 40 hour/week schedule, primarily from Monday through Friday. Personal Protective Equipment required for the field work portion of this position includes, but is not limited to, hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toed boots. All equipment must be MSHA approved as applicable.
