BAE Systems Machining Manufacturing Engineer in York, Pennsylvania

Job Description

BAE Systems Combat Mission Systems is hiring a Machining Manufacturing Engineering to support 1st Shift operations, responsible for developing executable machining processes and supporting shop floor activities at the York, PA sites. As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer for Machining at BAE Systems, you will use your skills to develop and improve manufacturing/machining processes by studying product and manufacturing methods. You will create and modify CNC programs for machining processes, as well as design fixtures and tooling for operations, manufacturing processes and material handling. You will complete calculations and design for new equipment and process improvement, as well as create and maintain technical drawings for processes, tooling, and fixtures to support manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities:

Evaluate, support, develop, and improve manufacturing processes

Drive processes to decrease scrap and increase productivity

Participate in cost reduction activities

Work closely with members of manufacturing and quality to support targets for quality, cost, and delivery

Ability to work in large cross-functional teams and at multiple levels in the organization (both salaried and shop floor operators / skilled trades team members)

Excellent communication skills will be expected to provide program reports to cross-functional teams

Demonstrated ability to take ownership of cross-functional program deliverables and ability to drive decisions based on the overall benefit to the company

Analyze data to identify root cause of defects and implement appropriate countermeasures.

Assist and support program management in introduction/integration of new products.

Must be hands-on engineer with desire to work on the floor

Location/Schedule/Travel:

  • This role will be based out of York, PA.

  • This position will work on 1st Shift, 9/80 schedule where you will have every other Friday off.

  • This role will require less than 10% of travel

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • 6 year minimum experience in the machining industry

  • Robust problem solving skills

  • Intimate knowledge of machine tools, ability to show others how to use them

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor peers

  • CAD/CAM Programming experience

  • Experience with CNC, multi-axis milling, and turning technology

  • Experience supporting a production machine shop

  • Lean manufacturing training or experience

  • Experience with capacity modeling, process mapping, and fault analysis

  • Pareto analysis, root cause, and corrective action experience

  • Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) experience

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • 5 years experience in CNC Manufacturing as a Manufacturing Engineer/CNC Programmer

  • Siemens NX CAD/CAM Programming 5 years

  • Lean manufacturing training or experience

  • Strong understanding of numerical control (NC) programming

  • Pareto analysis, root cause, and corrective action experience

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $83900 - $142600

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
