Summary: The Patient Access Representative is responsible for completing
the patient registration in a timely and accurate manner; secures all
demographic and financial information, including Medicare/Medicaid,
Third Party Liability (TPL), and Workers Compensation; verifies and/or
notifies insurance company; completes cash deposits (co-pays,
deductibles, self-pay); explains and answers registration questions on
demand. Responsibilities: Obtains accurate patient identification for
walk in arrivals, at bedside and/or at designated desk; explains of
Condition of Admission; educates on compliance and mandated forms.
Collects Cash, Check or Credit Card Payments and maintains cash drawer.
Verifies/notifies insurance company by phone, fax, or website. Maintains
work queues; notes encounters in EHR for follow up. Schedules and
transcribes patient appointments and procedures. Conducts interviews
with patient family members and/or insurance to answer questions or
explain hospital policies; completes all financial assistance process on
all self-pay, under insured, or uninsured patients. Other duties as
assigned.
